Here's what's up for grabs. Books! I know you're surprised. ;) And I'm going with a ghostly theme. Both very moving stories with pretty unique concepts.
If I Stay by Gayle Foreman From the back cover: On a day that started like any other... Mia had everything: a loving family, a gorgeous, adoring boyfriend, and a bright future full of music and full of choices. Then, in an instant, almost all of that is taken from her. Caught between life and death, between a happy past and an unknowable future, Mia spends one critical day contemplating the only decision she has left--the most important decision she'll ever make.
Simultaneously tragic and hopeful, this is a romantic, riveting, and ultimately uplifting story about memory, music, living, dying, loving.
The Everafter by Amy Huntley From the inside flap: Madison Stanton doesn't know where she is or how she got there. But she does know this--she is dead. And alone, in a vast, dark space. The only company she has in this place are luminescent objects that turn out to be all the things Maddy lost while she was alive. And soon she discovers that with these artifacts, she can reexperience--and sometimes even change--moments from her life.
Her first kiss.
A trip to Disney World.
Her sister's wedding.
A disastrous sleepover.
In reliving these moments, Maddy learns illuminating and sometimes frightening truths about her life--and death.
This is a haunting and ultimately hopeful novel about the beauty of even the most insignificant moments--and the strength of love even beyond death.
And... My new favorite toy. :)
Aren't they the coolest pens ever?
Perfect for late night inspiration. :)
The winner will get one green pen and one red pen (black ink). I'm also throwing in a cool journal. What are pens without paper, right?

ReplyDeleteMy fav book lately?
Probably 'Before I Die' Totally heart wrenching. :)
I'm an oldie! Congrats again, woman!
Angela @ The Bookshelf Muse
Yay! Books are the best prize.
ReplyDeleteI've fizzled on a lot of books lately, but I listened to The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor. This is my kind of Alyss story. Real conflict, romance and heavy dose of fantasy. Definitely not your Disney Alice and taken much deeper than the recent Depp movie. All I can say is that I highly recommend it!
Ok, I put the giveaway in my sidebar at My Writing Journey +5 and tweeted +5, old follower +1, comment +1, best book +1, and totally my total (lol!) +1.
I believe that gives me a total of 15 entries. Woot! I almost bought If I Stay today.
Yay! 5 entries for me!
ReplyDeletehmm let's see. My favorite book lately... I'm going to go with World War Z.
Yay Zombie apocalypse!
Okay, I'm already a follower, I commented (obviously), I posted on FB and on the sidebar on my blog. The best book I've read recently is "The Adoration of Jenn Fox" because it was so different. I loved the style of writing and the turmoil of the character. So that gives me 15.
ReplyDeleteGreat contest. I'd love to read both these books. And the pens are cool, too.
Congrats, Abby!
ReplyDeleteOoh, books and pens? How did you know? ;)
Well, I'm an old follower who blogged about your contest (before you even had it up, I might add ;D), and the best book I've read lately was Club Dead. I'm a sucker for werewolves.

15 total--yippee!!!
The best book I've read recently (considering that recently what I've been doing is hitting my edits hard and haven't read too many books...)
(I hope this still counts because I wrote it...)
So far, this year, the best book I've read is Eros. It's about a Cupid who happens to fall in love with a girl and she doesn't know
who he is because it takes place in modern day New York. When she finds out, he vanishes right before her eyes and she has to travel to Greece, in hopes of finding him again, but on Mt. Olympus.
I love this book because it helps me to realize that it doesn't matter how we look on the outside--we can always find love.

Hi, Abby!
ReplyDeleteI signed on as a "follower" and I sure would appreciate it if you would honor me with a "follow-back" on my blog, "Cynde's Got The Write Stuff". If you do it within the next few days, you'll be just in time to enter my Followers' Contest where the prizes are: a $15.00 gift certificate from Amazon, plus a FREE, Autographed copy of a great book entitled, "ROSE: A True Lady", written by the very talented Diane L. Wood. I hope you take advantage of this fun little contest and I would love to have you as one of my "followers". Please?
The best book that I've read recently is: "ROOMS" by James L. Dubart. The reason I liked it so much is because it was so alive and unpredictable. I have this annoying habit of usually being able to predict what is going to happen next in books and movies and how they're going to end--WAY before the end of the story. Needless to say, it ruins the story for me. In "ROOMS", it was thrilling because the story took so many unpredictable and delightful turns. I just LOVED it. It was refreshingly different.
As for your amazing contest, here are the point tallies:

The best book I've read recently is Dracula, which I re-read in English (my mother tongue is Hugarian). I love it cause it's so well written and it's always a shame how much gets lost in translation.

I used to have one of those pens, many years ago. It was a special promotional item from Reader's Digest because of my family's renewal of our subscription. I've never been able to find another one, though. =(
And the books you're featuring sound really lovely. I haven't seen them on other book blogs, and I wonder why, because they draw me now.
Thanks for hosting this giveaway, Abby. =) I really hope I'm eligible!

+1 best book I've read recently would have to be Spirit Bound, like so many others have said, because of DIMITRI!!! But I also will say Sunshine by Robin McKinley, because she created a character that you weren't supposed to love(Con), but I really, really did. And she's just plain awesome!

ReplyDeleteThe best book i've read recently is actually the one i'm reading now: Breaking Dawn. I know I'm behind on reading the last of the Twilight books, but this is just like the others. I can't. put it. down. The characters are so real (books beat the movies hands down) and I'm still left thinking of hte story long after i've closed the book.
