ReplyDeleteHi. My name is Callie Forester. I found your blog through your friend Tere's site. I'm another aspiring YA author. :) There's a lot of us out here in cyberspace, huh?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this looks like a great contest. I've been meaning to pick up Fallen anyway, so I'm excited. Since I'm new to your blog I figured I needed extra entries. So...the flying monkey thing...hmmm...how about this,
I should be working on my book
But that gets hard sometimes
I want to browse around your blog
Instead of writing lines.
It’s fun to sit and read cool stuff
It’s my form of play
I could sit on my computer
But not work for the entire day. :)
But then my chances of being published
Will be as good as seeing monkeys fly
So I think I will get off my butt
And bid you all goodbye
Let's hope I'm a better writer than I am a poet! :)
It was nice "meeting" you.Congrats on reaching 100 followers!
I do love those covers. I'd love to read Fallen! :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Abby! I'm a new follower, I found your site when Christine D. posted your contest on her blog. Love to find new writer friends! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd those covers... to die for...!
Ok. I shall do my best to create an acrostic for your enjoyment. :)
Feathered beasties
Leap into flight
Yawling at the moon
In eerie unison
Northern winds blowing a
Gale their way.
Meekly they
Obey the Old One
None daring to break the
Knot that binds, that cuts
Each secretly
Yearning for
Salvation.
That was totally fun. :) You made my day.
Lindsey :)

ReplyDeleteHere's my flying monkey haiku for ten more entries!
ReplyDeleteWriters block despair,
Flying monkeys in Egypt,
Accuracy? Nah!
I think I'm up to +6 for entries not including the lameness of my monkey haiku. I'll let you decide if that's worth ten points. ;)

ReplyDeleteOh, excellent contest with such mouthwatering prizes. I feel like I've come ito it so late though. I'll add you to my sidebar, but don't worry about giving me any extra points since it's so last minute. But I'll tweet, k?
ReplyDeleteOh, and I'm a new follower :)
Monkeys that fly aren't better than monkeys that can't. They just have a better view. (short, short, shot stoty. Hehe!)
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm probably going crazy, but I can't find your followers list to click...
But your blog is GREAT. I love your header. Lovely! So I am going to plug your URL into my google reader. :)

ReplyDeletePhew, I just made it. I'm a current follower +2. It looks like you're well over 100 now. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteCount me in +2 for being an old follower.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...
There once was a monkey who flew.
All who saw it scratched heads, "Well, who knew...
That a primate so soft
Could lift up high aloft
Whether winds from the east or west blew?"
Obviously, I am not a poet. But that was fun anyway! :)
Great contest! I'm so glad I found your blog :) I'm a new follower, and I tweeted about the contest (Twitter name is @HeatherTrese) and added the contest to the sidebar.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm not so great at poetry, but haikus have won me contests in the past, so I'm going to go with that route once again and see if my luck continues:
Flying monkeys swarm
Claws digging into my hair
Don't carry me off!
That should leave me with 16 entries. Good luck everyone!
OMG, how on earth did I miss this contest. I desperately want those books and I nearly missed out. Ahhhhhhh!

Abby Annis has a contest,
Where flying monkeys rule.
I nearly went and missed it,
'Cause I'm a stupid fool.
Since flying monkeys are the rage,
I earn more entries on her page
Of tallied numbers added up,
torn and dumped into a cup
From which she'll draw one lucky name.
I hope it's I who win the game.
I want those books more than she knows.
Fingers crossed (and maybe toes)...
+14 total :-)
Congrats on the followers. :) Count me in as a new follower and I've posted this at my blog here and on my Facebook here.

Flying Monkeys? Really? Okay... here goes:
The banana I seek sits high in the tree,
Oh what can I do?
Oh woe is me...
I sit and I stare so hungry am I,
Oh what can I do?
Too bad I can't fly...
The fruit so yummy it hangs like a tease,
Oh what can I do?
Someone help me please!
I cry to the sky and wish on a star,
Oh what can I do?
The bunch is so far!
Oh my goodness! What is that I see?
None other than a sky full of flying monkeys!
They swoop to the ground and point at the tree!
Yes Yes they are here to help me.
The leader he climbs way up the long base,
We watch from below, oh please watch your pace!
Then his fingers they wrap around the big bunch,
My mouth is watering at the thought of my tasty lunch.
He slides down and hands me the first yellow sweet,
I bow down and thank him, kissing his feet.
He shares with his friends beneath the bright sky,
Oh how lucky I was that the monkeys were flying by!
lol Okay I have now spent a bizarre 10 minutes on a Friday night! Thank you for the inspiration!

Flying Monkeys Poem +10
Flying Monkeys Everywhere
They pulled on little Toto's hair,
Ripped the straw from Scarecrow's shirt
Dented the Tin Man and covered him with dirt.
Scared the poor Cowardly Lion into a state of despair
And that's all before they lifted into the air
Dorothy and Toto, to take them to HER
Their thoughts on the Witch of the West weren't pure
She was holding them captive; they were virtually slaves
Doing her bidding, torturing innocents, filling graves.
Flying Monkeys everywhere.
Maybe not intentional, but they're still quite a scare!
