What Do You Want?

Hey, all my awesome bloggy friends, I need your help. I don't know if it's the move, or being offline for a month, or maybe it's just the altitude, but I have no idea what to blog about. The creative juices just haven't been flowing for me lately.

So I'm asking you. Is there anything you'd like me to blog about, anything you'd like to see more of? Or anything you're dying to know about me? Maybe a few suggestions will help get my brain functioning again. I suppose it's possible it's out of commission for good, but I have to try. ;)

Thanks, all! You guys are the coolest!

Also, thanks for all the love yesterday. I'm feeling much better today. :)

  1. When I'm struggling for topics, I find a picture or a quote that I love and use that for inspiration, or I review a book I think everyone would enjoy. :-)

  2. Flying monkeys. ;)

Where do your ideas come from?

Are you a story, craft, or voice person--as per Rachelle Gardner's recent post?

Do you like pretzels? How are pretzels like writing besides being twisted and salty?

How do you balance the writing life with your normal life? Do you have any new ideas for writing? Are you inspired by anything you've read recently and why? Do you have a good recipe for oatmeal cookies?

  3. I love to read Tuesday Teasers, you know, snippets from people's WIPs. It's Tuesday...why not share some of your writing with us?

    :)) Nicole

  4. Shannon: Thanks! I'll have to try that.

Tere: Mmm. Oatmeal cookies. Maybe I'll bake today. You're just a fountain of ideas, aren't you? ;) I'm off to check out Ms. Gardner's post nest. Thanks!

Nicole: I've thought about that, but my WIP is a rewrite of my first novel and right now it's just a jumbled mass of disconnected scenes and those need a lot of work. Besides, I don't really feel like any of it is good enough to share right now. Hmm. Maybe I should do a post about confidence in our writing. See, I just needed a little inspiration. Thanks!

  5. Tere: That should say "Ms. Gardner's post next". Oh, Blogger! Why won't you let me edit? ;)

  6. Shannon has some great ideas. I used to have this problem, but now I spew forth whatever I'm thinking about at the moment. No, really. Like you didn't know that!

  7. I do love a good book review!

Or maybe I could send you a list of the posts I need to blog about. Hehehe!

And I DO like flying monkeys!

  8. I'd like to know how you fell in love with your genre. How did you know it was the right one? Did the idea just run away with you?

  9. I'm new to your blog, so hi there! Blog ideas are tough for sure - I guess that help keep us creative. Do you have any more videos like that Twilight one? Hilarious!

  10. What was the inspiration for your current WIP?

    Also, flying monkeys. ;)

  11. You know, a LOT of people have been struggling with this lately, but I think you definitely have some good excuses ;)

But, hmm. What to ask? What to ask?

How about you wrote us a poem or short story? You could break it up into chapters, one chapter each day of the week? Just like 500 words/day? A story about you as a girl, or an alternate life you might have led, or who you dream you could be.

Anything you write it interesting to me!

  12. Sorry to read you were sick. I hate the flu.

Anyway, I'm sure you're not out of blogging commission for good. You were just sick; your poor body is probably still getting back to normal.

I saw a few of the ideas people suggested and they sound good. I also like reading about people's progress on WIP's, successes (large or small), problems they may have worked out--anything writing, I guess.

  13. We love hearing about good books and horrible TV, but that's just us! HA!

  14. Describe your new town to us, or your place, or what it was like to move. What do you want to write about, but you can't? Are there any forbidden subjects? What does your dream review sound like? What author would you just die to get a shoutout from?

Good luck! Hope you are feeling better!

  15. What Dawn said. You were sick. Your mind is still mending. But I hear ya, too. After I took November off from blogging it was really tough when I came back. I was out of practice. Don't worry, it'll come back.

  16. Whatever you do, don't worry about this. Any of the suggestions people have made will generate ideas for you once you are feeling better.
I was just reading Neil Gaiman's blog and he is celebrating NINE years blogging. I guess you have to treat it like talking to friends, because nine years is a lot of posts!

  17. Elana: You always have great posts. If I were to "spew forth" whatever I was thinking, I'm pretty sure everyone would stop reading. :)

Stephanie: I try to do book reviews once in a while. Just getting back into reading, though. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

L.T.: Great questions! Now I'm thinking...

Susan: I wish! I come across something once in a while that's worth posting, but not often.

Anissa: Great question! Kind of goes along with L.T.'s. Thanks!

Ali: Thank you! You're so sweet! Poetry's not really my thing, but maybe a short story about flying monkeys? ;)

Dawn: I guess I haven't done a WIP post in a while. Thanks for the suggestion!

LiLa: I don't think I could do the "horrible TV" posts as well as you. :)

Julie: Those are great suggestions, and definitely help to get my brain moving in the right direction. Thanks!

MG: Maybe that's all it is. I do feel totally out of the loop on everything bloggy. Thanks!

Tricia: Nine years? I never really thought about it before, but it's hard to believe blogging's been around that long. Crazy!
