I LOVE movies that freak me out. Looking back, I think the movie that started it all was Watcher in the Woods. I used to watch it over and over. I even watched it again a few months back, and though it wasn't as scary as I remembered, I still loved it.
The most memorable scary movie for me will always be Pet Semetary. I haven't seen it in two decades, but that little kid with the scalpel still freaks me out. Guard your ankles, people! He might be hiding under your bed. Yikes! ;)
So, I want to know. Do you like scary movies? If so, what's the movie that hooked you? And what's the scariest movie you've ever seen? If not, was there a movie that was so scary you just don't watch them anymore?
Too scary for Becca? The Exorcist! Everything else I will watch over and over.
ReplyDeleteThe movies that get me the most are the ones with slow, creeping suspense where you don't actually see the monster for most of the film. Alien, The Haunting (the original), The Fog, The Ring... spoooky!
Pet Semetary creeped me out. I ran and jumped on my bed for WEEKS after seeing that movie.
ReplyDeleteHeh. It's kind of funny in retrospect.
LOL Yeah, that scared me when I was a kid, too. I watched a few years later and wondered why I'd been so scared.
ReplyDeleteIn my 20s, I loved to watch all kinds of scary movies. Now, I can't watch them. My imagination is way too overactive for that. I can't sleep for days because I keep hearing and seeing things afterwards. LOL Pretty pathetic. I know.

I'm not a fan of scary movies. I get too scared. The movie that made me swear off scary movies forever was The Mothman Prophecies. I couldn't sleep for a week.
ReplyDeleteLike Lynette my imagination is too active and like Natalie I get too scared, so I avoid horror flicks. But I like a good suspense/mystery. I really liked The Sixth Sense.
ReplyDeleteBecca: I couldn't finish the Exorcist. That one was way scary!
ReplyDeleteCarrie: I slept with my blanket wrapped tightly around my feet and ankles for weeks after seeing it. As if that would have protected me. :)
Lynette: I don't think it would scare me as much if I watched it now, either.
Natalie: I loved The Mothman Prophecies. Very creepy. :)
Tricia: Sixth Sense if one of my favorites too. Some good creepy scenes in that one. :)
Oooh, I do not like scary movies. I never see horror movies in theaters (much too big and real) and I even try to avoid them on small screens. Suspense is great.
