Makes me think of Mork and Mindy. :D
Who’s participating in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month)? Raise your hand. *raises hand halfway and braces for flying stones*
I know I told a few of you I wouldn’t be participating, but I think I’ve decided to give it a try, for a few reasons.
1. I would love to be able to turn off my internal editor (aka Little Miss Perfect) and just write. What better way to learn than trying to write 50,000 words in 30 days?
2. My current WIP is a sequel to my finished first novel, and what’s the point of writing it if I never get the first one published? I know at least one of my betas will be upset by this, but I think it will be good for me to pull myself away from the world of Olivia and Jack and work on something else for a while. (Sorry, Little Sis)
3. I’ve had what I think is a pretty good idea simmering for a while now, and I’m excited to get going on it.
So, are you participating? Why or why not?
Also...
My contest is still running to win free books and stuff. Be sure to CHECK IT OUT, if you haven't yet.
And I'm totally loving this version of this song, so I have to share. :D
Good luck with NaNo thing O.
ReplyDeleteMork and Mindy... LOL.:)
*raises hand* This is my very first year doing NaNo but I've known about it for some time! I hope I make it through alive :) I can tell it will be hard not to edit as I go along, but if I want to make my goal then I'll just have to crack down and do it. Good luck with your writing!
ReplyDeleteYay! Good for you Abby. I will be doing NaNo for the first time this year too. It's going to be fun!
ReplyDeletei participated in 2005, 2007 and 2008, but not this year. it's tempting, esp since i know at least 2 other people are doing it (I think Kristal is). but the 2nd draft **must** be finished before i can even think about starting a 3rd book in my series.
ReplyDeletebtw, i'll be doing a series of posts about nano in the next few days.
good luck and have fun. it's a great way to turn off the editor and just make messes on paper (computer).
I'm another NoNo newbie. Although I haven't registered at the NaNo site yet. Don't know if it's necessary, of if you can just say you're doing it. Good luck to you and to all of us!
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Abby! This sounds like it will be really freeing for you :D. Go for it, and have fun!
ReplyDeleteNope. Not me. Not participating. Never. I'm not competitive. I won't do it. Nope.
ReplyDeleteHell yeah! BUT, not officially. Totally unofficially.
I heart Mork and Mindy. I actually thought it was a touch scary when I was a kid ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm planning on doing NaNo. I'm a little nervous about it, but so excited too!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I will do Nano this year, but I am subject to change my mind.
ReplyDeleteThis is my second year, but last year I didn't know anyone doing it, and this year I know so many plus I'm blogging about it - and it's been very motivating!
ReplyDeleteI won't be participating. I always seem to be in the middle of a story I don't want to put aside when November rolls around. However, I am going to participate in spirit by getting my current WIP finished during the month of November.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing it. Working on research for it now. Good luck to all of us!
ReplyDelete*sitting on hands* I guess I could have done it since my WIP is now being chewed on by one of my crit girls. I've almost finished doing the research for the next novel, and will start the outline this week. But it still won't be ready for next month (i.e. next week)for me to participate in NaNO. For me, writing without an outline is like going shopping naked. Neither is a pretty sight.
ReplyDeleteHow about I cheer you on, Abby, instead. That works for me. :D
Looks like I won't be alone. Good luck to all who are participating, and to all who aren't, good luck with whatever you're working on instead. :D
