Despite my fascination with horror movies, I've never been a big reader of horror. I remember reading the Twilight Series (from the 80's—sorry, no sparkly vampires), and I really liked Vicious Circle by Imogen Howe from that series. I've also read a lot of Christopher Pike books, but it's been years, like since jr. high, so I have no idea if any of those were actually good or scary. ;D
So, what about you? Do you like reading horror? If so, what's your favorite book in that genre? And who's your favorite horror author?
I'm not much into horror in literature or in film. But I love a good mystery.
ReplyDeleteI read Christopher Pike when I was younger. Now? I don't read horror. It terrifies me. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI've never been into horror, whether it's in books or movies. I used to read the Goosebumps series when I was younger and I didn't mind a scary story every so often, but it's not my cup of tea. I'm a big chicken!
ReplyDeleteI love The Shining and other classic Stephen King, but also love reading creepy stories like Lovecraft's Call of Cthulu! I really enjoy stories that build the slow, creeping suspense.
ReplyDeleteThe Shining. Even if you saw the movie. Hands down best horror book ever.
ReplyDeleteOkay, The Shining? LOVED the book. The movie was way too scary for me. So I've had a little revelation that while I don't like scary movies I do like scary books. I think it's the sense of control I have when I'm reading.
ReplyDeleteNope, too scary for me. I'm a wimp.
ReplyDeleteI abhor horror. I'm a big fraidy cat. But I'm drawn to a good story...
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog! :)
ReplyDeleteOther than THE AMITYVILLE HORROR, I don't remember reading many really scary books. I'm too chicken. I used to love watching scary movies, but movies are over in two hours; you live with books longer, you know?
I'm not sure if this is considered horror, but I loved reading R.L. Stine as teenager (Blind Date).
ReplyDeleteNow I am too much to scary to read or watch anything scary. Strange how things change when you grow up.
I feel a lot less daring and adventurous.
